MUMBAI: On learning that his sister was having an affair with a neighbour, a 29-year-old man from Goregaon, along with his family members, murdered him late on Monday. Kisan Kharva (29), an auto driver, along with his wife Bharati (30), mother Radha (55) and brother Bharat (20), was arrested on Tuesday.

Kharva and his family stay at Teen Dongri in Goregaon (W). His sister also stays in the same neighbourhood but separately. Kharva had recently learnt that she was in a relationship with a person from the locality, Sanjay Mukherji (34). But he disapproved of it primarily because Mukherji was unemployed. and he feared it would his sister who would have to work for a living.
"Kharva had learnt that Mukherji was even lived with her often. He had warned Mukherji to stay away from his sister, but his warnings fell on deaf ears," the police said. When Mukherji refused to listen to him, Kharva decided to teach him a lesson.
Around 7 pm on Monday, Kharva called Mukherji to his home on the pretext of sorting out the dispute. Kharva had already had an argument with his sister over her affair.
When Mukherji reached their home, all the family members had an altercation with him. Soon, the argument snowballed into something uglier with Kharva raining punches on Mukherji and hitting him with a bamboo stick. "His mother and his wife, who works as a maid, also joined in," an official said. Mukherji collapsed on the floor and lost consciousness.
"Trying to evade arrests, the Kharvas called up the police claiming that they had caught a thief in their home. Immediately, a police team reached their house and took Mukherji to Siddharth Hospital where he was declared dead. asWe became suspecious seeing the bruises on Mukherjias body. The Kharvas later confessed to the crime" said ACP Ramchandra Aher. We may also book them for misleading the police with false information.
The murder weapon has been recovered.
From the Kharvasa home, the police have recovered the murder weapon as well as an anonymous letter stating the details of the relationship between Kisanas sister and Mukherji.
