LUCKNOW:A traffic sub-inspector along with his two aides allegedly stopped a young couple riding a motorcycle on the pretext of checking their vehicle documents, thrashed the youth and forcibly dumped the girl into a SUV and sped away.

The incident took place in Achalganj area of on Unnao-Kanpur Road at around 5 pm on Thursday. Responding quickly, the youth informed the girl's family about it before he decided to trail the SUV, which by then had disappeared from his sight. Though the sub-inspector by then had managed to escape, his aides were apprehended.

The police, who were initially shocked to find the sub-inspector and the girl missing from the car, heaved a sigh of relief after the girl reached Chakeri Police station late in the evening. The girl said that the cops were trying to outrage her modesty, when she jumped off the speeding SUV and was escorted to the police station by a local lawyer. Reports said Annu Yadav and his classmate Annu Pal - both pursuing BSc at a Kanpur college were on their way home from Unnao, when they were stopped by a traffic sub -inspector, later identified as RP Shukla. The cop was moving in a SUV and was accompanied by a home guard Rajiv Dixit and police constable driver Pradeep Dubey. The cops asked Sunny to show the registration papers and thrashed him unprovoked when he tried to explain the situation to them.
