NAGPUR: A 14-year-old orphan was allegedly raped by a murder accused, Sunil Yadav, at Gawlipura, Gittikhadan on Tuesday. Since Gittikhadan police reportedly delayed the complaint, residents along with corporator Shashikalabai Wade thronged police station.
Cops registered the case after confirming medical reports. Yadav, with two murder offences against him, had once raped and murdered a woman in the same locality.

The minor girl, who lost her parents in childhood, stays with her grandmother. The girl worked as a domestic help while her grandmother runs a small roadside business.
The girl had reportedly gone to buy kerosene, since they had no electric connection at home. While on her way, Yadav gagged her and took her to a desolate place, said Wade. Wade added, Yadav slapped the girl and raped her when she screamed. The girl fainted after that and returned home late in the night. She then narrated the incident to her grandmother and neighbouring woman.
After learning Yadav's identity, the residents thrashed him severely. However, he managed to flee as the residents went to police station. Yadav is still absconding, said police. The residents claimed, Gittikhadan police initially suspected that girl was in a relationship with the accused and hence had physical relationship with him.
