CHENNAI: A 25-year-old woman who was living with her partner in a rented house in Kodambakkam was found dead in a hotel in Munnar in Kerala on Monday morning.
"The couple checked in on October 6 and employed an auto to visit places in Munnar." Residents of Govindarajan Street said Shamila and Kumar lived in the locality from July 10 to August 25. "They never used to mingle with the neighbours," said a resident of the street. "They had given a mobile number to the house owner, which is now switched off. We are trying to trace this phone," a police officer said.

Police are searching for Kumar. The Kerala police said she was found dead with a shawl around her neck and deep cuts on her throat around 8.30am. They recovered a blade from the room. The body has been shifted to Kottayam Medical College for postmortem. The couple had given a wrong address - No 18, Govindapuram, Mambalam - to the Munnar hotel. "The murder must have taken place around 4am. The inmates of the adjacent rooms heard some noise around 3.30am," a police officer in Munnar said.
