AHMEDABAD: Sanjay Sagar, 28, a resident of Khodiyarnagar in Odhav, was stabbed to death by his brother- in-law, Sanjay Ajani. On Wednesday,Odhav police arrested Ajani and booked him for murder.
Police said that Sagar was killed when he tried to intervene when his sister and Ajani were quarreling. Gita Sagar, a resident of Khodiyarnagar, got married to Ajani who used to stay in Una near Surat two years back. However, owing to marital discord, Gita soon returned to her parents's house in Khodiyarnagar.
On Tuesday night Ajani had come to Khodiyarnagar to talk to his wife. The couple quarreled and Gita's brother Sagar tried to intervene. Ajani got angry at this interference and he stabbed Sagar in his stomach with a kitchen knife that was lying nearby.
Later, though, Ajani made no attempt to escape and waited for the police to reach the spot and arrest him. "He also confessed that he had killed his brother-in-law," said Odhav police.
