AHMEDABAD: A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death in Amraiwadi on Thursday over an alleged love affair. Police arrested two assailants early on Friday and recovered the weapon of crime.
Police identified the victim as Deepak Rajput, a resident of Bhagwatinagar in Amraiwadi. Police said that the accused - Kamlesh Rajput, a resident of Odhav, and Satish Rajput of Amraiwadi - went to Deepak's residence at 11.30 pm on Thursday.
Deepak was allegedly in contact with Satish's sister Savita, now married to Kamlesh. "Before she got married to Kamlesh, Savita and Deepak were very close and they had even planned to get married. However, the union couldn't materialize because of Deepak's poor economic condition. After Savita got married to Kamlesh, Kamlesh nurtured the doubt that she was still in touch with Deepak and had traced his number in call records of her cellphone. He then discussed this with Satish," said an Amraiwadi police official.
The duo took up the issue with Deepak who contended that it was Savita who had kept the relationship alive and had first called him up. "Soon, an enraged Kamlesh flashed out a knife and stabbed Deepak several times on chest and abdomen," said Amraiwadi police station inspector M D Upadhyay.
