Oct 12, 2011: 16-year-old girl kidnapped, raped

LUCKNOW: Two motorcycle-borne miscreants allegedly kidnapped a 16-year-old girl in Indiranagar and raped her near a multiplex in Gomtinagar on Monday evening. The duo left the girl at the spot and fled.

In her statement to the police, late on Monday night, the girl said she was waiting for conveyance at around 6.30pm after attending a coaching near Eram Inter College in Indiranagar. There two motorcycle-borne men approached her saying that her father had been detained at a police station. The duo offered to take her to the police station which the girl accepted. The men took her to an isolated spot near a multiplex in Gomtinagar and allegedly raped her.
She told the police that they had passed through the Ambedkar Park in Gomtinagar. The police on Monday night took the girl with them to identify the spot. They passed from the road as told by the girl and reached the Mauni Babaas shrine near the camp office of municipal commissioner where the alleged incident took place.
The girl told the police that after the incident she rushed to her home in Munshipurwa near Ghazipur village and narrated the incident to her father. The father-daughter duo then lodged a complaint with Ghazipur police on Monday night. The police have registered a case of rapeagainst unidentified accused, circle officer Alok Kumar said, adding that the case would be worked out soon.
The police said the girl was sent for a medical examination and the report was awaited.
DIG DK Thakur told TOI that a preliminary inquiry revealed that the coaching, which the girl attends, was closed on Monday. The police are probing why the girl lied to them, sources said.
