CHANDIGARH: In a shocking incident, a jilted lover brutally murdered his girlfriend's brother and seriously injured her mother at the Model Town colony, a posh locality of Yamunangar city, 130 kilometre from here on Tuesday morning.
Sudhir Saini, the jilted lover escaped after committing the crime. Police started the investigation after registering a murder case against the accused at the city police station. The mother was rushed to PGIMER Chandigarh and the brother's body was handed over to kin after the postmortem.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Sudhir has been going around with Shipra (name changed) a resident of Model Town, for the past couple of years. The two had eloped last month but Shipra had returned home. Since then the two had not been meeting.
This morning, Sudhir, who was carrying a sharp edged weapon, entered Shipra's house. The two had an argument and on hearing their noise, Shipra's mother and brother Vikram entered the room. Vikram and Sudhir had a scuffle and before Vikram could react, Sudir stabbed him, leaving Vikram in a pool of blood. As Vikram's mother tried to stop, Sudhir stabbed her as well leaving her unconscious , an invstigating officer said.
Before anybody could react to the situation, Sudhir escaped while issuing threats to Shipra, an officer said.
Investigators further stated that Sudhir was present on the roof top of Shipra's house before the incident. A half eaten bread sandwitch, an empty glass, a liquor bottle and a soda water bottle were recovered from the roof top of Shipra's house.
Sources informed that Shipra's mother is fighting for life at PGIMER Chandigarh. At the same time police are conducting raids on the possible hideouts to nab Sudhir.
