NOIDA: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped on Sunday by her brother-in-law and a neighbour, a few days after the death of her husband at Sadarpur in Noida. The accused are on the run after the incident, police said. The accused have been identified as Parmanand, 48, and Gaurav, they said.

DSP Brijesh Singh said the victim had lodged a complaint with the police that her brother-in-law Parmanand and neighbour Gaurav raped her at her residence. Her sister was also present in the house and the accused had locked her up in another room, the woman has alleged in the complaint.
"She said that she was raped in the morning. We have registered a case against the accused under IPC section 376," he said.
He said the victim's husband Harsh Vardhan, 40, died of cancer on October 2. She was his second wife. Harsh was earlier married to Rekha. He had a 15-year-old son and a nine-year-old daughter from his first marriage, the police said.
Harsh was living with both his wives, police sources said. "It is said that Harsh had a one-and-a-half year-old child from his second marriage. He had three brothers - Parmanand, Rame and Yogendra," Singh said.
Harsh's terehavi (thirteenth day) was held on Saturday. Immediately after his death his family members were involved in a property dispute with both the wives laying claim to his property, he said. However, Rekha was opposed to the victim receiving any share at all, he said.
The victim had been asked by Harsh's family to vacate the residence soon after his death, the sources said. Having refused to do so, she urged her sister to stay with her, they said. This had further worsened the situation and the victim's relations with the rest of the family deteriorated, the sources said.
"On Sunday, the victim approached us alleging that she had been raped. We are probing the circumstances in which she was raped," Singh said.
"There were five tenants in the house besides her sister. We have lodged a case and have sent her for a medical examination. Investigations are underway," the police officer said.
