A 30-year-old man who was a suspect in the alleged murder of his wife, an employee of a software company, allegedly committed suicide today, police said.
Maheshkumar, the deceased, was a suspect in the alleged murder of 23-year-old Chennai native Shyamala, who was found dead on Monday under mysterious circumstances in Munnar in Kerala.
Shyamala, who hails from West Mambalam area of Chennai, and her husband had traveled to Munnar on a sightseeing trip.
Maheshkumar had strangulated her with a shawl inside their resort room after inflicting deep wounds all over her body with a sharp razor and escaped, police had said.
Even as Kerala police registered a murder case against him and were on the lookout, he had come to his native village of Patti Maniyakaranpalayam near Nambiur in the district yesterday, police said.
Maheshkumar found hanging in a tree in his house premises today, they added.
