Patna: A teenage girl held in custody in a murder case in Bihar was allegedly raped by policemen while being interrogated, a police official said on Wednesday.
The incident happened in Saran district when an 18-year-old girl, an undertrial prisoner, was raped by some policemen at the Majhi police station, the official said.
Majhi police station chief Kapurnath Sharma has been suspended for dereliction of duty as it was an offence to keep a woman in remand without female constables around, said Saran Deputy Inspector General Sunil Kumar.
A doctor who conducted medical test of the girl confirmed the rape.
The girl said she was brought to the Majhi police station from Chhapra district jail on August 18 for investigations into the murder of her 15-year-old lover.
She was arrested on August 14 after a complaint was lodged against her by the boy's father.
