CHENNAI: The suburban police on Tuesday arrested a 40-year-old man for sexually harassing his 34-year-old tenant near Maduravoyal.
Police said the woman had been living with her husband in the Tamil Nadu Housing Board Colony in Iyyabakkam near Maduravoyal. The owner of the house, K Kudiyarasu, lived on the second floor of the building.
On Monday, the woman lodged a complaint with the Maduravoyal police, saying that Kudiyarasu had been sexually abusing her when her husband was at work. Police questioned Kudiyarasu. "He confessed that he had sexually abused her," said Maduravoyal police inspector P Arul Santhoha Muthu.
Police booked Kudiyarasu under Tamil Nadu Women Harassment (Prevention) Act and Section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code.
He was remanded in judicial custody at Puzhal prison.
When the couple left the house, the accused did not return the amount they had paid as a deposit, police said.
