Coimbatore:  Upset at being repeatedly spurned, a 22-year-old man, on Wednesday, allegedly stabbed a college-going girl several times in full view of other students, police said.
Arun Prasanna, a college dropout from Dindigul, stabbed Rini Tapasya, a 21-year-old final-year student of a private engineering college here, six times, when she was on her way to the class room in the morning, police said.

Tapasya sustained multiple injuries in several places including her chest, abdomen and neck. She has been admitted to hospital and needed surgery as her liver has been damaged, police said.

Prasanna was upset with Tapasya who had repeatedly spurned his advances, they said.

At one point, the girl had warned Prasanna that she would inform his parents about the issue and also the college authorities, police said. Prasanna was later arrested.
