BANGALORE: A 25-year-old youth from Basaveshwaranagar was arrested on Monday for allegedly kidnapping and marrying a 16-year-old girl, a student of a reputed PU college in the city.

Police said the girl was missing from home since July 28. In her complaint, the girl's mother Mahalakshmi told police that her daughter left for college that day. She received an sms from her daughter stating she had married one Chethan. Mahalakshmi accused Chethan of kidnapping her daughter and forcibly marrying her.

She had also accused his sister Asha of plotting the crimes. Police arrested him on August 4. He and the girl underwent clinical tests. "We have proof that he forcibly married her after kidnapping her, though the girl had repeatedly stated that she had gone on her own will," said an officer.

POTENCY TEST

The girl's mother has requested police for a potency test as she fears he might have raped her daughter.
