Hyderabad: With the arrest of three women, including one Uzbek national, and two pimps, Cyberabad police on Saturday claimed to have busted a prostitution racket being operated from star hotels and private houses of posh residential localities in Hyderabad.
Police have also arrested six customers in this case.
Based on reliable information, Chandanagar Police raided a room in Ella Hotel at Gachibowli and arrested one Selva Raj of Chennai and a sex worker of Uzbekistan for prostitution, they said.
Acting on an input received during the interrogation of the arrested, raids were conducted at some flats and hotels, where illegal activities were being carried out and more persons could be arrested, they said.
Investigation of the case has revealed startling facts regarding involvement of numerous people in the hi-class racket in Hyderabad and Cyberabad (police limits) with their bases in other metro cities, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dwarka Tirumala Rao said.
The woman from Uzbekistan had landed in India about two years back on a three-month visa. Separate legal action is being initiated against her under Foreigners Act as her visa expired and she has been staying in India illegally, Rao said.
