SHAHAPUR: A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl who is now two-and-a-half months pregnant. Both the accused and the victim, who are reportedly in love and had consensual sex, are residents of Chonde village in Shahapur. But the boy has been booked as the girl is a minor.
The girl, who studies in Std Vat a Shahapur school, stays in a government-run hostel. Her condition came to light when she complained of stomach pain and vomiting following which a doctor examined her and found that she was pregnant . The hostel management lodged a complaint with the Kinhavali police and the girl told the officials that she had physical relations with a boy when she went home during the summer vacation.
"The girl said they were in love and they had sex with her consent. But as she is a minor, we have booked the boy on charges of rape," said A B Shinde of the Kinhavali police station. The accused has been sent to a remand home in Bhiwandi.
