BANGALORE: It was a tragedy chain - a young homemaker hanged herself, pushing her husband and father-in-law into taking their lives too.
After N Anusha, 24, committed suicide in her KR Puram residence on Wednesday afternoon, her shocked husband R Vinay alias Nandish, 28, called police and his in-laws. He then rushed to his village Sathanur, to inform his father. He told his father Ramesh, alias Ramaiah, that his wife was found hanging in the bedroom of their rented house and that police had already started investigating the case.
What transpired between them is not known. He and his father allegedly hanged themselves in a mango grove in Sathanur village near Kanakapura, Ramanagaram district.
Police claimed that Ramaiah and Vinay committed suicide around 6pm Wednesday. Vinay was employed with HAL, while Ramaiah was a farmer. Vinay married Anusha about a year ago and settled in KR Puram. "Family sources claimed they were unhappy and fought regularly," police said. "We suspect that Vinay and his father may have been afraid that they would be implicated in Anusha's suicide case. Fear may have driven them to take the extreme step."
Couple hangs itself
Dejected over repeated fights, a couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in their house at Sahakarnagar late on Tuesday night. The deceased are Ramachandra, 32, and his wife R Akshata. While Ramachandra was found hanging inside the hall, Akshata was inside the bedroom. Their four-year-old daughter was asleep.
"On Tuesday night, the couple fought and their shouts were heard by a few neighbours. On Wednesday morning, a neighbour, who happened to pass Ramachandra's house, which is on the second floor of the building, saw him hanging in the hall," Kodigehalli police said.
Police suspect Akshata might have committed suicide first, and seeing his wife hanging, Ramachandra might have followed suit. But no death note was found, police said and added that Ramachandra, sales manager in a private factory, was upset over his wife's nagging attitude.
"While Ramachandra hailed from Maddur, Akshata was from Chikmagalur. They were at Sahakarnagar for four years. The bodies have been shifted to MS Ramaiah hospital; the family is on their way to Bangalore," police added.
