GONDIA: An offence has been registered against two people for abetting suicide of an 18-year-old girl, whose body was found floating in a large well in Mehatakheda village of Deori tehsil on August 4. She has been identified as Shashikala Mendhe.
The victim's father registered a complaint with the Deori police station against the victim's lover and his father. According to the complaint, Dilip Dhamgaye and Shashikala were in love with each other. As Dilip's family had not consented to the marriage, the duo left the village on June 25 and got married in a temple. They returned to the village on July 31 but Dilip's father Jagan Dhamgaye (45) refused to accept them.
Dilip then deserted Shashikala, who must have wandered here and there, before committing suicide, police said.
