CHENNAI: The police on Wednesday arrested a 60-year-old woman for running a brothel at Esplanade.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a private guesthouse on Prakasam Salai and found Nalini running a prostitution racket.
Police arrested Nalini and a pimp, Latiff Hussain of St Thomas Mount. They also rescued two women who were confined to a room.
During questioning, Nalini said she had worked as a nurse at a corporate hospital and then for Dr Prakash, who was subsequently arrested for making pornographic films.
"She developed contacts with regular visitors to the hospital and indulged in prostitution. Then she met and worked for Dr Prakash, who was later arrested," said Esplanade police inspector S Chellappa.
Nalini and Hussain were remanded in Puzhal prison after being produced before a magistrate court on Thursday, the police said.
