Aug 12, 2011: Local girl rescued from brothel

KOCHI: The Kerala police have launched a probe to trace the activities of an inter-state immoral trafficking racket, after a girl hailing from Mangalore, was traced to a brothel house at Varappuzha inErnakulam district.
The activities of the racket came to light after the girl submitted a complaint to the police that she was sold to racket by her mother.
Paravoor circle inspector K G Babu Kumar, whose police team rescued the 19-year-old girl from the brothel house, said the girl submitted a complaint that she was sold by her mother for a sum to the racket when she was 16 years old.
The racket took her to various places in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu before she was handed her over to an agent in Kerala. Police have taken her father and mother into custody for a detailed interrogation.
