CHENNAI: The Thirumangalam women police on Monday arrested a 28-year-old man who had married three women. Police nabbed Riyaz alias Robert of MMDA Colony from in front of a hospital in Kilpauk. Riyaz would take dowry from the women and later leave them, police said.
The police arrested Riyaz after receiving a complaint from Rose Mary of Mogappair. He converted to Christianity and changed his name to Robert before marrying Rose Mary.
But Rose Mary did not know that Robert was already married. Rose Mary suspected Robert as he often did not come home. A week ago, she spotted him on a bike with another woman. She phoned him but he said he was in Coimbatore. She made enquiries and found out from his neighbours in MMDA Colony that he was married and had a threeyear-old son. He was picked up by the police when he came to meet his first wife at the hospital.
