MUMBAI: More than a week after a 32-year-old tailor was found dead, the Wadala Truck Terminal police booked his wife and mother-in-law for killing him by poisoning his meal. The body of Mujeeb Abdul Rangrez was discovered near Bhartiya Kamla Nagar at Wadala (East)on July 28.
Rangrez did not get along with his wife, Shabina (22). For the past year, Shabina was staying at her maternal home, away from her husband as she had frequent fights with him.
"After we found Rangrez's body, we informed his family members who stay at Mankhurd. His family told us that the last time they saw Rangrez was when he had gone to meet his wife at her maternal home. He was supposed to have dinner with his wife and in-laws," a police official said. Although Rangrez's family suspected his wife's involvement in his death, it wasn't clear how he had been killed as there were no injury marks on his body.
A post-mortem revealed that Rangrez had died due to suspected poisoning around 8 pm on July 28. The Wadala TT police then registered a case of murder against Shabina and her mother, Noor Jahan Khan (43), based on a complaint filed by Rangrez's brother, Wasim, who is a garage owner from Antop Hill. The two women are yet to be arrested.
