AHMEDABAD: A sex racket was busted near Income Tax circle on Friday afternoon. The racket, said city police officials, was being operated under the guise of a beauty parlour. Eight persons, including five sex workers, were arrested.
According to the strike team, the officials of deputy commissioner of police, zone I, got a tip-off that an unnamed beauty parlour, running in basement of Vasupujya Chambers near Income Tax circle, was a facade for prostitution business. A policeman in civvies was sent to verify the fact. After his confirmation, a team busted the den and sealed the place.
"We found manager of the place, a peon, two customers and five women, who were brought to the city from various parts of the country for flesh trade. We are yet to know more about the network and how the customers were brought. Primarily, we got to know that they used to advertise as a massage parlour," said a police official involved in the operation.
